Brake & Turn Signal not working -
I have a 70 chevy c10. My right rear brake light and turn signal arent working. The running lights and backup lights work fine. I had a mechanic take a look at it, he said that its not the turn signal switch or the brake switch.
Any ideas what it is???
Any help would be appreciated.Godxilla-Stroker

The brake and turn signal use the same wire and bulb filament. If the front signal works, it's either a broken wire or a burnt-out bulb. If the tail-light works, that rules out a ground problem.

Hi -
The bulb, socket and wire check out. Even though the mechanic thought the switch is good, Is there a way i can check the switch to be sure?
The brake switch is ok, but i am NOT getting any power from the brake switch to the box.Godxilla-Stroker

the same wires going into the sw. works both sides so if the left side works that means everything going into the switch is good, if the wire going to and the light on the right side is good then all that is left is the sw. do like denny said, go under the dash, find out which wire goes to the r/r and jump 12v to it ,if the light works then its the sw. i donk know what the mech checked but look like he was just guessing. im taking you word that the light is good if it is its the sw.Mike

I'd suspect the turn signal switch is bad.Ken Thomas

at the sw. you need a in put and a out put to make them work, and you need a brake input also.Mike

Godxilla, I've got a '94 Firebird and the electrical system in these cars is TERRIBLE! It seems like if its not one thing then it's another! Anyway, I went and got a Volt Meter {$9.95 at the local auto parts store} and a couple of 3 foot long pieces of wire with aligator clips on the end. I don't know if you already have this stuff or not but this is the best $12 bucks that I've ever spent for fixing electrical problems.... Bil
