    Help! How do I identify the Plug out on a HEI cap. Where is plug one located?

    It is between #2 and #8 on a Chevy......

    Seriously, rotate the engine so that the timing mark is on zero. When there, the distributor rotor is either pointing to #1 OR pointing to #6 (180 degrees out). Take the cap off and look where the rotor is pointing.

    Do a simple search on this site for distributor alignment and follow the simple directions.......

    Thanks for the help.... I just realized it does not matter I can wire the cap starting anywhere I want as long as I maintain the firing order and position the vaccum port to allow for adjustments.

    Fired the engine up an hour ago and now I am on to the next issue...
