    '37 Pontiac generator

I had my '37 Pontiac generator rebuilt. Some people have told me that I have to polarize it to make sure the electricity is going in the right direction to the voltage regulator. Others have said I only have to polarize it when a new voltage regulator is put on to get the electricity going in the right direction or I will burn the regulator out. Question is: do I have to do anything other than install the rebuilt generator, hook it up to the regulator, and drive off?

If it works right off, you're okay. If not, polarise it.
