    1955-56 Ford Car Rear End

I have a stock rear end I pulled out of my 56 ford customline, and I am thinking about putting it under my wife's 64 falcon. I had assumed it was an 8 inch, cuz it is a smaller version (diameter of carrier) than my 9 inch. I called richmond gear, and they tell me 8 inch gears came about in the 60's. I want to use this rear end because it is the right size, and will bolt in. I just want to be able to rebuild it. thanks

Why not get a Maverick rear? Or Granada, theres lots of parts for them.

Check Mac's, Carpenter, Job Lot to see what parts are avavilable. If very few, go with a Maverick Granada, etc.

Maverick rears are a hair longer. About 2 inches I think. If I cant find parts for mine, I will do something else. Thanks

Maverick 8" rear ends are 56.5 inches wide, mounting surface to surface. They are the narrowest 8 inch made I believe. I have one in my Studebaker and it fits sweet.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

I have a maverick rear in my 55 ford and I built a 64 falcon 2 door wagon a few years ago and used a maverick rear in it too and it worked just fine,a granada rear is about a 1/2 or so wider then the maverick. Jeff
