To answer your question NO our school doesn't teach you street rods. No need for them to try and sweet talk us into anything. Oh and YES we TIG weld as well. TIG, MIG, ARC (cutting, etc). The CPCC school here (community College) is supposedly the 5 best community college in the nation or US or whatever one they told me. This year or last year I think it moved up to 4th or so.
Sorry I can't afford 30 grand for one year. But then again I don't count on school to get me a job and teach me what I need to know with HAND'S ON. I plan to do my school, do well in it, come out and work for myself sometime after.www.streamlineautocare.com
If you wan't something done right, then you have to do it yourself!

about the sweett talking.. thats bullsh!t... my recruter didnt do that at all.. he just let us watch a video and asked us what we thought. he didnt say wyotech what NUMBER ONE or anything.. it was all our choice. so still.. the school is what you make of it.. so quit ur complainin when ur in debt when were makin mula.. ur loss our gain

FMX, have you attended school at wyotech ever? no? then how can you talk so much shit about the school. Ok, maybe some recruiters exagerate some to try to get more kids going here. Everything my recruiter told me was 100% true. I personally think that the school is awesome, but I also work my ass off to make it awesome. If I was like 90% of the kids that go here and dont try, yes the school would suck. Again, the school is what you make it!! I don't expect anyone to hold my hand through school, if that's what you're looking for, maybe Wyotech isn't for you then.

Well I havent went or been to Wyo-Tech , been in the business to long and dont need the basic schooling , BUT I hired a Wyo Tech kid , and he had the skills , so I didnt need to babysit him , as I could show him how to do it my way , because his prep work refelected on me not him , as My name went on the job not his
I had him for almost 3 years till I told him I thought he was effecient enough to go out on his own and make good money .
Well he is now head painter at a fine shop and doing well .
I have had other helpers from other schools that were good too , like they say its what you make of the school your at .
I am not Dissin' you FMX as Everyone has their oppinion , thats fine .
Your SKILLS will be the final exam when your out of school !
I also was approached 3 years ago to teach at Wyo-Tech , but if it was anywhere then Laramey I would of taken the job.
For a little insight , most all of you will never make more then 25K for the first few years , as you will most likely be a helper first and need to develope your Skills , and know how to manage your time and speed at work , learning this will make you money .( especially if commission )
I have made 80-100K + years and have the W2's to prove it . Thats after a long time in the business and being lead painter with 4 booths, 2 cross flows and 2 heat makeup down drafts.
Usually No Shop owner will just take a kid fresh out of school and let him have at customers cars , at least not around here .

This is also true for the mechanical side. No wrench does anything on his own untill I know for a fact his head and his rear are in touch with each other. Pay att. and learn, or some old fart like me will have to fire you and I really hate doing that.

tim, as far as wyotech being an entry level school, i have to say yes and no. So far i am only in week 8 of collision, so i havent been through street rod yet, but I have heard a lot of good from some friends over there. The lectures we do in collision are I-car lectures. I went there with some pretty good basic experience, and i have learned a lot. There will be a lot of times where you will learn just one little thing that puts the whole puzzle together. If you want to do good, you really have to push yourself, they WILL NOT hold your hand. Honestly, there are a lot of dumb asses that go here, and they will get on your nerves sometimes. Im not sure what you mean by "when do you quit"
Im in wyotech housing, im not sure what's out there. hope this helps some
