I went and looked at all of the post about Wyotech and was suprised how many people thought it was a waste of money and not very help full. I live about 60 miles from the one located in Wyoming and was considering going there. I was a carpet installer and got hurt in a car accident 2 yrs ago and havent been able to work since then. I will be having surgery soon to fix the problem, and the insurance company is willing to pay for me to learn a new trade since my injurys prevent me going back to carpet. I was really considering going there, I wanted to get into custom paint jobs and body work. I already know a little I have done small repairs to my own cars and have friends that restore cars that have a shop near by and I go and watch and ask many many questions lol. Mabe I will check my local Community College and see what they offer. It would also be a very long drive and would be away from the family. I have a wife and 4 little ones decisions decisions lolIf Its too loud your too old!!!

hey,
I am a current student here at wyotech. I can guarentee that about 80% of the people that go there will say it might not be worth money. This is what I have to say, about 80% of the students don't pay attention in class, screw around, don't try hard in the shop, and dont answer questions. So, if you ask one of those kids if they learned a lot, of course they are going to say no, because they were never paying attention! I am working my ass off in class and in the shop, and I am learning more than I ever thought I would, and I've only been here for 4 weeks. So if you work hard and put a lot of effort into the school, it WILL be the best choice you've ever made. Another part of putting a lot of work into YOUR schooling is studing. On average I study at least an hour a day, and my grade reflects it. So if you want to get a lot out of Wyotech, you have to put a lot into it.

it just depends how long you are there. I am taking collision/refinishing, street rod and chassis fab....i think it was somewhere around $27,000, plus the housing. If you ask me, it's worth every penny of it. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I agree with tim, and ranger. Its up to you to learn the trade and get your money's worth. Thier job is to make it ava, not hold your hand and make you study. No collage will do that. You left mommie at home. Lots of folks going to all types of collages, for a lot more money, and not getting a thing out of it. Work hard, pay att, study, you will get a excellent start with a strong base, screw off and you can flip burgers with the rest.

You don't even wanna hear my story about Wyotech.... All I can say is that the recruiters are liars and bulls****** to a bunch of students at our school and that's not even everything that happened. Should have heard what out auto tech teacher and 2 collision teachers had to say about the place.
If you look into Wyotech and don't like it then don't overlook Community College. It's much cheaper and same thing... you get out of it what you put in. Wyotech tried to tell me their school is cheaper. I told them I am paying 5000 for EVERYTHING for an Associates Degree in Auto Tech OR Diploma in Collision which is a bit cheaper like 4800. Guy at Wyotech told us that we are lying and you are still paying more at a local CC even if we DO stay home and live with our parents, etc....
Well someone needs to do math because I don't see that equation working out with me.www.streamlineautocare.com
If you wan't something done right, then you have to do it yourself!

all i can say is that recruiters are recruiters. These guys dont teach, so to have an opinion just based on a recruter for a school you've never been to is pretty sad. Does your community college have a street rod program, or do they even teach you to tig weld? Wyotech also carries a very good name in the field, at least better than a community college. Just my 2 cents, nothing against anyone.

Also, very well said Ranger, but the same can be sad for any school or any undertaking you pursue. Keep the positive and upbeat attitude, it will take you far !!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
