how level must the engine be ?
I know this sounds like a stupid question but the intake on the 348 is slanted like a bugger and i was wondering to i want the intake more straight or the engine. i would think the intake but i thought i'd ask. ( those big blocks are just stupid heavy )Seth

The OEM manufacturers installed the motor/trans angled down 2-3 degrees to afford some legroom in the front passenger compartment, so the intake manifold is milled on an angle to provide level placement for the carburetor. When I do an engine swap, I install the intake manifold I'm going to use and install the motor so that the carb pad is level, then adjust the angle of the rear differential so that the trans output shaft and the pinion shaft in the diff are close to the same angle.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

And I know what you mean about them things being heavy lol, when I pulled the original 348 and the cast iron pig of a powerglide it actully bent my dads Engine hoist!! And it took 3 of us to roll the engine and tranny away from the car lol. Is the 348 your using stock? Good luck with it!
