The 55 PU is a highly desireable truck. There are many ways to go ...I'll start w/the LEAST desireable, which is a frame swap. Many have done ths including myself, however it usuall makes the trk harder to sell because it's human nature to not trust someone else's work that is so involved.
Of all the chassis I've made for these trucks I like the Chevy sus-frame or Must II IFS the best. The GM sub is cheaper & I like the ride better, while the MUst II is easier to install. For the GM sub us the HD springs. For thr Must II springs use 4 cyl or v6 w/ 1/2 a coil cut.
For the rear suspension I use a Ford 9"(2nd gen Must) or Granada with Crysler 5th ave leaf spring. I use the HD one from JC Whitney(5leafs).......$69 each.

We were just talking about this on another thread. Using a Heidts MII crossmember on your frame rails would be the slickest way to get R&P steering and discs.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
