I'm not sure, but I think I may have locked my trunk key in the trunk! Is there any way to get the trunk open without bustin the lock, like a code I can get to have a new key made? It's a 75 plymouth.

Help me Obie Wan Kenobi your my only hope!
    Thx, Bruce

Isnt the door key the same as the trunk key? Have a locksmith make a key for the door tumbler if it is the same.....easy to pull the door tumbler.

Sawzalls at Home Depot are $129.

i locked my keys in the trunk of my ford one time right in front of the princess auto surplus store about 120 miles from home.
went and sat in the car and thought now what.
went back inside bought a little roll of wire and a cheap set of wire cutters opened the hood ran a wire from the coil to the battery shorted the solenid and drove home.
took the rear seat out later when i had time and fished the keys out.
not too many younger people know anything about getting a older car started with out keys let alone trying to drive a 3 in the tree column shift.

I believe a locksmith can do it from the vin number, but I think it would be a lot easier and less expensive to just take the rear seat out.

I just went through this crap!!! only thing different is i didnt lock my keys in the trunk the car im building only came with an ign key no door keys. its a 71 monte, anyway i ended up drilling the lock all the way down to the linkage that turns the lock in the back of the tumbler, once you drill all the way down, BEING CAREFUL NOT TO GO TOO FAR!!!!! because if you go too far youll drill into the linkage and then you'll have a new problem. Youll be able to open the trunk with a screwdriver then take whats left of the lock tumbler out and the linkage and you can get in and out with a medium sized flathead screwdriver until you get a new lock for your car. hopefully this helps. it worked for me, it may not be the easiest way or the only way but its what i did and i didnt screw up the trunk lid or anything else. i dont know if you ever drove any older fords but when the tumbler collapses in the steering column for the ign switch that how it has to be removed. what a P.I.A.!! the trunk should take about 10-20 minutes to get into. good luck, Joe

A good locksmith can get it open in about 5 minutes by making a key (need a spare maybe?) on the spot. I lost my motorcycle keys once, took the bike to them in my truck & the guy worked on it with a blank & a jewelers file, few minutes later I had a new set of keys.

But yeah, easy way would be to pop the back seat.
I dig ALL cars, old & new, whether they were hammered out of american iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.

    But thats just my opinion.

If you're a big guy like me, you'd better find a kid to stuff through the hole. Most cars have an "X" brace behind the seat, making access difficult.
