    new guy new project.1948 chev.

Hi, ya got a newbie here.
My first project is a 1948 Chev.2 dr. fleetline.
The plan is to drop the body on a newer frame with a 350 combo and do a 3 inch chop to the roof.
My buddy suggested a mid eighties pick-up for the frame and suspension as it has the same 117.5 wheelbase and the running gear that I want already. Anybody have any input?

I have had a 47 Chevy Coupe built for 10 years now. The first time I did a Nova subframe but later redid the frame with a Mustang II. You are getting into a lot of work with a chassis swap. You are going to have to make body braces, radiator supports etc. The Mustang front ends are tried and true and will save you time and money. I used a Chassis Engineering rearend kit that was an easy install. Good Luck on your project!
