Interior Materials
http://www.thetrimconnection.com/
Do their prices look a little high to you guys? I was looking at that insulation pad stuff as well and that price seems pretty reasonable. Now on the leathers, what's the difference between the three light medium and heavy grades? Looks like the heavy stuff is more of a fine grade look. Is that like ultra leather or what? I am trying to decide where to get my materials for my interior from and saw that leather. Not sure that I wanna go leather though, anything else that looks ncie plain and clean like Tweed? I can't use tweed though it gives me rashes and I itch like crazy from it.
THANKS!www.streamlineautocare.com

www.rodinteriors.com they sell ultra leather, in kits and styles pre made so you can put it in yourself, a compleate kit from the carpet to the headliner, including the visors ( although not in the kit ), will end up running probably 3,000 with the ultra leather. I'm gonna use the vinyl in my car, purple and white vinyl in the V8 pattern, purple in the small sectinon, white in the rest, white vinyl headliner and the windlace might be purple but also, maby white. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Thanks for the link Matt... What about a place that sells JUST materials? Seems like ultra leather will be way too much. The only thing I plan to NOT do myself is the seats since I dont have a sewing maching but the rest this lady is helping me with like headliner, door panels, carpet, etc.
Vinyl wouldn't be bad either. that would look nice too. I would like to see other materials they offer out there though as well. The Ultra Leather in white would look great in my 48 though if I do that Darker metallic purple color for paint on exterior. hehewww.streamlineautocare.com

I ordered my interior for my 1940 ford coupe from ezboy rod interiors . Everything except the headliner ( because i bought one off of ebay) cost me 1340.00
with shipping . Mine will be rolled and pleated two color vinyl . A local shop quoted around 4000.00 for the same thing
installed . If you are interested go to www.rodinteriors.com

Have you taken a look at ISS Custom Seating?
Terry Geotz is the owner and a really nice guy. I talked with him this week and he is going to the Nats in Louisville on Monday. So unless you are going as well, he might be difficult to reach. But you could always call one of his team in sales. Again, my recommendations in this hobby come few, but I have no reservations about Terry. I know he will treat you better than expected. Here is their web link:

Also check out RodDoors. Along with the fact they sell all the materials you'll need, but they even sell a tape/DVD on how to do your interior.---Tom

Thanks again guys! Well I have my seats here at home, have my digital gauges here. I wanna get a dash bezel in chrome to put in my 66. Once I get my C4 or C6 tranny put in with the shifter on the floor where it needs to be then I am going to do the carpet, then put in my seats and make my own custom brackets, make a center console and then cover it with carpet material, then do my headliner, seats and door panels. I would like to get the interior done ASAP for some more comfort. Right now I have a old worn out seat, no carpet just plain metal floors, no headliner, no door panels, it is really hot in there and even more hot when I get the truck running and driving around, then I have no AC, no power brakes, no power steering, it's a manual.... It's like a job just driving the truck so anything to confort it some would be great. Next year I am definetely going to put in AC though since it's my everyday driver.
Well again, thanks for all the help I will check out those sites and on that Rod Doors site I get 10% off or SHOULD since I am a member to Slick 60's.www.streamlineautocare.com

Ok just got done looking at the sites. Now I remember why I didn't wanna go with rod doors... They are way too expensive for just the plastic door panels and carpet and headliner. I think I may just got get the seats upholstered by someone and do the rest myself. I need to learn what materials to use so I can just cover my whole door panel inside and do a nice little plain design. I can't afford to spend 2 grand like that.www.streamlineautocare.com

FMX--I don't want to insult your build, but listen up----why do you want to use leather? Damn near every one except the top builders and high dollar auto manufacturers use Vinyl. I use it in all my cars, its waterproof, it wears well, its far less expensive than leather. I use marine grade vinyl, (a lot of people in the industry call it "Naugahyde")---which was one of the popular vinyl upholstery manufacturers in the 60's. It comes in every colour under the sun, is treated for ultra-violet resistance (won't fade in the sun), and pretty well any upholstery shop will work with it comfortably. It looks and feels like leather. Come on man, your building a daily driver pick-up truck---your not going to the Oakland roadster show.---check some of my upholstery posts that I done while building the roadster pick-up. You can build the door and kick panels from 1/8" mahogany door skins, which are available from the local building supply store-----I don't think your truck has a lot of compound curve surfaces to build panels for.Last edited by brianrupnow; 07-31-2005 at 06:26 AM.

Brian... I didn't say I was WANTING leather. Just considered it and asked what else was out there. I would like to stay away from leather actually because it's too darn hot in the summer, too darn cold in the winter and too expensive. I like the look of tweed but it's too itchy like I mentioned earlier. The seats I have now are nice and all and the material looks like tweed almost but soft and it's a tuck and roll in the middle and plain smooth on the sides around where you sit (bucket seats). The only problem is that they are maroon.... I do not like maroon or red at all on a car weather it me the whole car painted red or the interior red... I see it too much and just doesn't look good to me. Looks like a giant strawberry and makes me hungry.... Ok the strawberry part may not be true.
But Brian you do have a good idea there. Anyone have any pictures of some sweet looking interiors with vinyl? Also around how much is it for Vinyl? Now if I go with that then I will have to decide on the carpet. Which on the carpet I really don't care what it is as long as it's not real crappy and wears. I do wanna go with a light grey though on the interior. Reason why is because it's cooler than black which I would like too but too hot, and it will be hard to keep clean but that will make me keep it clean all the time. If I got black or a dark color then most likely I wouldn't keep it as nice if you know what I mean. Doing it a light color will just give me something else to do when I am bored. hahawww.streamlineautocare.com

Again, I would give Terry a call at ISS from the link above. He supplies most of the upholstery shops across the nation. He has an entire warehouse of materials...some of it is expensive, but most of it is for normal hot rodders who just need a functional interior. He actually works with the manufacturers to have them create fabrics which work well for old cars and motorcycles. And from what the locals around here say, he is very reasonable. It is definitely worth a toll free call.
