master cylinder for a 1952 chevy bel air

I'm trying to determine what type of master cylinder is needed for my 52 chevy car.I have front disk brakes and drums on ther rear. I've looked at the new ones and they all seem to range from $200 to $300 bones .Could I just by the bracket and purchase one from E-bay or a used one from what car I'm not sure?

BEL52AIR, if you want help, answer realmcoy's questions. We'll also need to know if you are mounting it on the firewall or under the floor and if you already have residual valve and proportioning valves on hand.

Brakes are nothing to fart around with. You need to do this correctly or you are endangering yourself and other innocent people.

The motor is a chevy 327/turbo 350 . I dont have anything besides the brake lines and will be installing the power booster under the body of the car were the original cylinder was mounted.

Master Power Brakes and several other companies have small boosters and dual reservoir master cylinders designed to mount on the frame and connect to the original pedals for the 52 Chevy. You will need a proportional valve (so the car doesn't brake too hard front or back and send you in a spin) and an extra residual pressure valve if my memory serves me right because of the low mounting position of the master cylinder. Master Power can explain all this and guide you to a solution (check their web site). Pick up a copy of Street Rodder, you will find several vendors with master cyclinder/booster solutions. On the Innliners.org forum you can find a company called Buffalo Engineering who does a manual disk brake booster set up. The late 60s mustang or camaro manual disk brake master cylinder is popular. I believe the mustang has an integrated proportional valve. Good luck, the disk brakes are the best modificaiton you will make on your car.

Check that website on MP Brakes. They will talk about what changes, if any, are required. You might find it easier to drill and test fit the mount before setting body on frame. Any modification sets off a chain reaction of unforseen challenges.
