Well my slightly saggin doors have finally gotten on the list, so I bought new pins and bushings. The problem is im having one hell of a time getting the pins out. the E clamps are off and the door is supported(not overly) any help would be great, thanks. this is on a 73 nova with welded hinges by the way.

If you search the internet under "hinge pin removal tools, or if you are friends with a machine shop, you can buy or make a tool like the one I have modelled here. They are very good for removing frozen hinge pins without messing up the paint.---just slide it over the hinge, tighten down the threaded screw onto the head of the hinge pin, then give end of the threaded screw a good whack with your hammer, to start the pin moving, then tighten the screw to shove the pin out of the hinge and out through the hole in the bottom of the tool.

    hinge pins

i've done many thru the years.first support the weight of the door this will take the bind off the pin,a neutral position.second remove door hold open spring, another souce of bind.then i like to use an air chisel to CAREFULLY catch the side of the pin and push out,or if room allows cut the pin in half with a worn down cut-off wheel and remove 1 half at a time.the top of the pin may or may not be serreted,an if it has a spring type clip on it this will need to be removed FIRST.gm recommends 30 weight oil on reassy.but then again they always wear out. good luck.ps been at it for 31 years and hav only used heat on 30's type pins not on the late model stuff.
