Bed finally done after 3 mos.
I finally got the bed for my 48 GMC painted. It started as a late model Chevy which I split down the middle & removed 13".
The revels were welded flat & Caddy fins added. Took 3 mos of body work.
The cab has been lengthed 3", the frame lengthed 4" & the top chopped 3 1/2".
Here is what it looks like after 14 mos of work.Don Meyer, PhD-Mech Engr(48 GMC Trk/chopped/cab extended/caddy fins & a GM converted Rolls Royce Silver Shadow).

Thanks BOB, your idea of lengthening the doors & cab really made the truck. It made the roof 5" longer(2" for the chop & 3" for the extend). This took away the stubby look of the cab & made the proportions much better. But, oh the work!Don Meyer, PhD-Mech Engr(48 GMC Trk/chopped/cab extended/caddy fins & a GM converted Rolls Royce Silver Shadow).
