Old mopar 6 to 12 volt questions
I'm going from place to place to find some info on this conversion.
I'm rewiring a 1955 Desoto to 12 volt. I plan on using a General Maint. three wire Alt. I'm using a Pertronix modual and coil (12 volt Negitave ground.) I believe I can get rid of the shut resistor because the pertronix coil has a resistor in it.
Can I use a Dorf type starter relay (solenoid) or should I use some other Mopar type. I have the 6 volt negative ground unit on the fender well and I think it may be burnt out.
I know about a volt dropping unit for the gauges, blower fan and the rest of the items. I'm using late model radio system (the stock one will still light up at night and be in the dash)
Anyone have a wiring diagram for an early mopar update? Any suggestions? I'll have a lot of parts from a 56 Desoto I'm picking up this week. I may use these gauges, fan motor and whatever. I have an aftermarket (hot rod type) wiring kit from "it's a snap" looks good. hoping it works well.Amen,
