Cad 500/F100 crossbreed
I'm replacing a tired 360 with a 500 c.i. Cadillac and TH400 in a '70 F100. Is there anybody there who might have done a swap like this? I have questions about the oil pan needed (front, middle, or rear sump), steering box clearance, and probably a few other challenges.
I will use the nine inch rear end and the 3:25 gears that are already in it. Would that be a suitable choice?
If somebody has knowledge about such an installation, or one similar, I'd like to hear from him (or her). I need help staying out of trouble and I'm too old and cranky to appreciate surprises.
Thanks -

Big Tracks,
You need to surf on over to http://www.500CID.com and check in at the forum over there. I'm sure someone there has done your swap, or one similar and they are very helpful folks.
Good luck and keep us posted on your project, it ought to be a torque-monster.
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Thanks for the information, Pat. I was not aware of that forum. They have a lot of members so somebody should be able to tell me what I need to know. Jim

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
