    Shipping Cost?

About 4- 4 1/2 years ago we moved from California to North Carolina. My father left a 1972 Chevy C20 truck with a brand new built 350 with a built up 400 turbo tranny. The truck had NO RUST and was his daily driver. We didnt have the room to take it with us so he gave it to his worker. His worker moved out here to help my father again and left the truck there. As of right now my dad still know's where the truck is, etc. Thing we are trying to decide is if it's worth having it shipped. Does anyone have any idea or estimated cost of how much it would be? My dad is always talking about how much he regrets leaving the truck there and he want's it back pretty bad but can't afford the time to drive back to cali and pick it up on a trailor.
So any information on the cost or anything would be a great help!
I looked into www.autotransportspecialy.com and still need to find more.
    Thanks a lot!

Awsome. Heck even if they can drop the thing off in Tennessee then I could be able to drive there in a day and bring it back. My dad can't drive out and get it, he own's his on construction company so is ALWAYS working and I just started college a few weeks ago so no way I can do it. Thanks for the link I am going to get as many estimates as possible and if it wont cost heaps I think I may look into getting it back if I can.

    deadend

If you go on just about any chat or message board and ask about anyone going to your area and who may be willing to do a deadend, then you should be able to get some responses. I notice this works at antique sites, such as ahooga.com or fordbarn.com. Maybe someone is running an empty truck near you and can take on such a load for you at a good price.
    Good luck,
    Huey

Thanks for that idea I will keep that in mind and look around this weekend. Oh my dad just told me as well that the motor is a 350 4 bolt main from a Vette. LT1 (I think that's the order heh). The tranny was a turbo 400 built with the best parts he could afford and built by his friend that raced sprint cars. He had heaps of money put into this thing. I have no clue the shape it's in anymore but it's California so its dry there, should be nice.

I would like to. But again, school. Unless I waited until next summer. That would be the only time I could do it.

Just go on the web and compare and get quotes. They can vary hundreds of bucks from one to another carrier. If you're going to fly and drive you'll end up spending as much as shipping when gas gets to near $4 a gallon plus motels, meals will sock it to you.

Twitch that is what I was thinking. If I drove 10 hours a day I could make it in 2-3 days with speeding.
I think it's 3000 miles or so. I am in NC and it's in Southern California. I don't know exactly where in California, the guy may not even live there anymore. I need to talk to my dad about it more and see if he is really serious and wants to really try getting the truck out here. He thinks it will be TONS of money to ship and said that I can check if I want.... He is always negative about things so who knows... Denny that is why I am negative if you didn't know.

He doesn't ever have time like that. Always working. I think it was dumb he even GAVE the truck away in the first place. Should at least have sold it.
