why i hate oil change places
Oil Fitler pic #1 Oil Filter pic #2
this is what i had to do to get this filter off the oil filter block to change the oil on a friends 4x4 s10 Blazer. Hand tightened, yeaaaaaa sure it was. i tried to use the correct tool & ended up hammering a screw driver through it 3-4times. i'd love to see the ape that tightened this thing &&& they wonder why they have such a huge fan following ...joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

My "last time" by Mike
It was time for an oil change. I checked my oil and air filter in the driveway, it was OK. Drove to iffylube. Answered their stupid questions. No, I dont need a flush on the speedometer cable fluid!!! Paid my bill. Drove home.
In the driveway, I noticed an oil leak. Checked the oil, the dipsitck was broke off about half way up. Drove back to iffylube, told the greeter that the drain plug was leaking. LO, it was the wrong drain plug. He accused me of changing it. HUH? They had put the wrong drain plug back in.....
I showed him the dipsitck. He told me that it was broken when I brought the truck in and the end was in the oil pan. Hmmm....wasnt broken 10 minutes before I took the truck in.
I wrote the iffielube company a letter with no foul words and said "never, ever agiain". Guess what?.....they sent me a coupon for a free iffylube.
Pulled the oil pan. Guess what? no dipstick end. Did find a spot on the edge of the hood where they slammed the hood with the dipstick laying across the fender.
what a bunch of dipsticks!!

Yep there are many horror stories from these places.
I worked at a new car dealership for a while and helped write service orders. A young lady had purchased a brand new Dodge BR2500 with a Cummins engine. At two weeks she decided not to follow our advise and have the truck serviced where she bought it and opted for the less expensive oil change at a very well known superstore with a tire and lube express. Before all was said and done she was limping the truck to us with the oil pressure light and alarm buzzing. We could see the oil spraying out from under the truck and it turned out that the superstore had used the wrong type filter and there was a gap about 1\8 inch between the filter top and housing. And yes they all act as if they didnt notice the oil when first cranking, but that diesel was putting out a serious amount of fluid.......come on......we really arnt idiots. Any way that store ended up buying a new engine for that ladies truck. I WILL NOT trust any of those type places to even air up my tires, not to mention oil!

As for stuck on oil filters, I 've had that happen to ones I've hand tightened. I've noticed especially if the interval between one change to next is longer to accumulate enough miles a filter can get sticky. If you drive 1500 miles a month no problem but if it takes you 6 months to go 3000 it can get stuck. There is no substitute for cubic inches
