the thing that gets me thinking on two holes down by the headers is a job i did for a customer i put my 548 14.8 into a 27 ford car it was tub out and i wound bet it was going to run hot it ran 230 in my gto but it did not in the 27and it had small tube header and small ex and no hood and a very small rad more air was getting at the headers than going thur the rad

definitely wrap the headers. Yeah, it voids the warranty, and certainly does make the rust quicker. But... that heat = POWER if ya keep it in !.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

If you want a nice, small 4inch diameter fan that really blows, here is a good prospect

I used one to pass more air over a small fluid cooler. Only drawback is the noise....it screams more than an excited date at the drive in.

On my 76 Corvette I placed them on the left inner fenderwell, made for a short access to the alternator.
