    87 s10 blazer frames

i have an 87 s10 blazer. the body is shot. the mechanics and frame are good. I was thinking to use the frame and build a rod or something from it. can't locate any info other than one place that uses part of the body to build the roadster. would rather start with the frame and go from there. Any ideas?

i've seen only one blazer frame under something & it was a 4x4 that a guy was putting under an early 50's suburban. BUT that doesnt mean ya can use them. BUT i would think because of the width of the frame about the only thing u'd be able to put it under would be a P/U body & it may work under just about anything from the late 30's to the mid 50's or later. take a tape measure to the frame, side to side, front to back & got from there. remember u can shorten or lenghten the fram also....joe

The S-10 Blazer wheelbase is shorter than the S-10 pick-up wheelbase. I think the Blazer frame is 100 inches, the shortbed pick up is 108 inches, longbed is 117 inches, and the Extended Cab is 122 inches. The frames are about 30 inches wide at the front and widen to 40 inches just under the firewall. The frames are boxed from the front to a flared joint just before the rear end rise. The weld at this joint can be ground out and the frame can be extended or shortened and re-welded. Yes, the Blazer frame can also be extended. The frames come stock with independent front suspension, power disc front brakes, and power steering. You can lower them enough to decapitate ants with inexpensive spindles and lowering blocks. With a little imagination these frames will fit under almost any old pick up. I've got one under my 52 Ford pick up. All I had to change was the body/bed/fender mounts. It will fit under some cars, but you'll have to do some mods in the trunk floor. It will NOT work under uni-body cars, the bodies are too weak.
