    Thanks for all the comments. I also agree that Ford in a Ford is a better route than Chev in a Ford. I'll just have to wait and see what sort of deal I can get on either motor. If I can get either for a similar price, I'll go with the Ford for sure. I am on a tight budget and want to the get the car on the road ASAP so if the Chev motor allows me to do that than that's what I'll probably end up doing.

    You could run the chevy, and build up the ford. Might have to make some adapters for the crossmember. I am a Chevy Guy all the way, but in a ford car such as yours, go for a ford engine. Anything would be good, maybe the big valved 351 (Winsor I think). Or the 302, that thing CAN SCREAM if built right. Fords are more expensive, but is worth it.

    I think it VERY COOL that there is now a real sentiment to put chevy in a chevy, ford in a ford and mopar in a mopar.... that said there does not seem to be any reason to mix except the chevy is cheaper.

    I have a stroked windsor ford (427) and I am amazed at the power and drivability..

    Hey, fusion....I think I would go all the way with the 51....460 built to the hilt with a bad ass tranny. That shoebox needs all the ponies and cubes possible. Narrow the rearend and you have an awesome combo with tons of torque.

    chevys are cheaper, but it just aint right to put one in a ford.

    The Chevy-in-a-Ford thing has been done to death. If you want my opinion, I say keep the same manufacturer all the way through. You can buy wrecked Crown Victorias with 4.6 liters all day long, as with trucks. They're a bit tougher to build up, with computer controls and small cubes, but you don't see nearly as many of them as 302s or SBCs.
