think I found another good hot rod rear
In my auto shop class, I was doing some brake work on a newer Jeep Cheroke Laredo, it was on a lift. The rear end looked pretty narrow so I took a look at it, I couldn't find a tape measure but I know it was like 53", I'll measure it if it is still there monday. It is a Dana rear end, I think it is like a Dana 30 or 44, not shure, factory disc brakes. not shure about gears. Probably lots of them in the yards. You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Cherokee has a Dana 44 or a Dana 35 or a Chrysler 8.25
But you said it has disc brakes, which would mean you are talking about a Grand Cherokee.
In that case, it's either an Aluminum diff D44 - they break a lot in jeeps. Or a Dana 35
Should be 59-60" WMS-WMSLast edited by oldjeep; 10-15-2005 at 06:17 PM.

If that's the case, then its a C-clip axle. 1.18-inch 27-spline axle shafts. 5 on 4.5 bolt circle. You're better off with an 8.8 out of an explorer if you want a light duty axle.Chuck P
