Fuel Filler Hose Options
Hey guys Im building my fuel system and i need to know what type of hose i can use from the filler neck into my fuel cell. Im using the stock-location filler neck, but i want to plumb it into my cell, inside the hatch. I need some 1+3/8 ID hose to connect to my custom aluminum fuel cell. What type of hose can I use? can I use the clear hose available at hardware stores? I know i have to use a hose thats compatible with gasoline, but i cant seem to find a place that sells that size hose. Any help would be appreciated

Actually I believe a radiator hose will work. Another option is to have your local muffler shop bend one up for you out of exhaust tubing.

Rad hose will eventually soften when exposed to gas. Get the right stuff.

Well, I tried looking, but only came up with 1 1/4" and 1 1/2", no 1 3/8". You might give these guys a call and ask if there is any such product.

I get hose for fuel fill at my local Car Quest store, they cut to the length I need, it is a different compound to resist deterioration from the fuel.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I went to my local NAPA store and bought fuel tank hose when I changed my fuel cap to inside of the trunk. I remember it being kind of expensive. It has a red stripe moulded into the hose showing it for a fuel rating. Hope I could help.Life is like a hotrod......it goes fast, so keep one foot close to the brake. a30coupe

All good info about using proper hose for fuel. Any bigger NAPA or comercial store will have GATES FUEL SUPPLY HOSE. It is about 4 bucks a foot but you need to do this one right. I have covered with various colors of heat shrink tubing to clean up the looks a bit. You can also use ridgid copper tube and sweat solder various fittings to get the angle to the dangle. This is also easy to have chromed when done and use just a few inches of hose at each end. The muffler shop idea is same concept mentioned above so take your pick.Jeff C.
