    Another question for 300 six

Aside from my 54 2 door, I have a 69 F-100 that I'm having re-sprayed, and I plan on driving it quite a bit in warm weather. It's a 300 six 3spd. I found another rebuilt '69 300 six with low miles to put in it, and I wanted a five speed. I like sticks better in a truck, and the guy with the six told me he'd let me have the column for next to nothing, too.

Would a 5-speed they used in Fox body cars work with a 300 six? This is my first time with Fords, so if I've got it right...that was a T-5..correct? I thought about e-mailing that McLeod company as they can make any adapter you want pretty much, but I was wondering if the input, output and driveshaft will cause huge problems. Mine's a stock two piece shaft,..would I need to switch to a one piece?

the 5spd from the later model F150's will work best probably, I don't know what they are but I know there common. most Any transmission for the Ford small block will bolt up, there the same as the SBF bolt pattern.

The sbf ford block to bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as a 300 six. The trans bolt pattern on most of the 300 bellhousings is for the truck type (top mounted shifter) transmission, 4 and 5 speeds and is different from the smaller ford 3 speed passenger car trannies. There are bellhousing made to mate the T-5 to the Windsor block, but do some measuring first as the shifter on a T-5 is on the back of the tranny, and may be to far back for a pickup application.

The early four speed overdrive (toploader) will work with your clutch and bellhousing, and its a tough trans. I've run one for years behind my 351W. There are two bolt patterns, be sure to get the right one.
