What is the difference between the Belaire and the Fleetline? Does anyone have pictures of their front grilles?

Belairs are hardtop coupes and fancy Bel Air trim, Fleetlines are fastbacks available in 2dr and 4dr versions, DeLuxe and Special models. Bel Airs have the 235 PG as standard eqp and Both models of fleetline have 216/ 3spd on the colum as standard eqp, only the DeLuxe models are available in the 235 PG
Fleetline 2dr
Bel Air ( trim has been removed )

Was the '52 the only one with the teeth in the grille?

yes they were, The teeth csn be easily adapted to a '51 grille. It is hard to see but I think that is a '52 hood emblem in that pic also ( they were diffrent ).You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Matt thanks again for clearing up some questions.. I bought what I thought was a '51 chevy and it turns out to be a '52. If I am correct, the '51 and '52 parts are interchangable..........???gyrofix

b4 you assume it is trully a '52, check the vin code '51 would be J and '52 is K it is the first letter in the 2 letter sequence, for example a '51 Fleetline special or Deluxe would be JK. you could also check the tail light lenses, if original they will have the year stamped on them, the back up lenses also, and the liscense light too. The vin is your best bet. most all parts are interchangable, hood ornaments interchange too.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Hey, I have a 1952 Sports Coupe with a 1951 grill. You definitely have the 52 grill and the accessory pieces on the bumper. I've owned the 52 for 23 years. You can read the info off the tag under the hood on the cowl. However, in some states the VIN was assigned to the motor which can be a real pain because the motors have often been replaced.
Go to www.nationalchevyassoc.com. They support 49-54 Chevys with lots of essentials. Your model number is 2154 and it was known as the Bel Air Coupe. The National Chevy parts catalogue has a model identification section. From a practical standpoint, all 51 and 52 parts interchange. Mine is getting a motor transplant: 1998 Vortec 350. Not recommended for the faint of heart and many would say not recommended at all.
Happy cruising.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
