trunk mounted battery
hey guys, heres the question i have: with a trunk moounted battery, running 1 gauge wire, how do you protect the main feed ? how do you fuse the circuit at the battery incase of shorts in the battery cable? what im looking for is, who sells a device which can carry the amp load for the entire vehicle, and protect from fire if the battery cable shorts out? and what amperage fuse/ circuit breaker is reccomended for that application??
Thanks, Dan

run it thru a garden hose....proper routing will prevent shorts

I dont have the room to run something that thick- have to fuse it

so figure the max amps the system will pull, then fuse it 10% higher. Put the fuse block next to the battery..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

I put the starter solenoid in the trunk, right beside the battery. That way, the big cable is only "live" when the starter is engaged. Much easier to run the smaller wires safely, or fuse them.
Be sure to run a large ground wire directly to the engine.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
