8" Rear-end change-out
I have a 69 mustang fb with factory 8". Am wanting to change out to 9" posi and disk brakes. Have heard alot about changing to Lincoln Ver. or Explorer. Exploers have 8.8" corret? Are ther other options like Mark VIII or F150 which would be better?

The Explorer is an 8.8.The Lincoln Versailles,Ford Granada will fit, but(there's always a but)The Granada,Versaillles 9" rear is a 31 spline tapered axle. The parts are available but not as common as the 34 spline axle 9" rears. The plus side is they will fit most Hot Rods as well as be a drop in for a Mustang. The 8.8 is also a very strong rear,in street trim it is just as strong as the Granada,Versailles 9".Both can be found with factory discs. The 8.8 has been used in everything from 5.0 Mustangs to Explorers,to F-150's.Needless to say the 8.8 is readily available for a lot less money than the 9".
And a Happy Birthday Wish for Mr. Spears. Hope you can have a great one. :)
