Question Air bags coupled with 5 spoke 20’s and 18’s

I have a 64 Impala 2 door Hardtop and want to do airbags and 20’s on the back and 18’s on the front. Can anyone tell me what problems I might run into? They have some complete kits on e-bay that I’m looking at. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Just remember that you get what you pay for. I have used a couple of different types of airbag systems, and nothing works as good as the Air Ride Technologies. It cost a little more but its well worth it in the long run. Another thing to consider, buy the 4way set-up. You never can get the 2way to air up the same height from side to side. The only other thing to consider is the backspacing for the rear wheels. Unless you mini-tub the car, you probably will not get a very deep dish wheel on the back. My 65 Chevelle has 20x9.5 on the back, but it has been mini-tubbed to accommodate the width.

I have talked to Air Ride Technologies, I like their stuff but this may sound stupied, the sales person didn't sound like he wanted to help me with information on what I needed. So I started looking elsewhere. That is why I asked for help in this forum. This way I just call and tell them what I want without sales help.

I have always had good luck working with them and their product is right on the money. As far as the kits for your car, they have a couple of different options. You can either go with the bolt in kit that uses the stock A-arms and trailing arms or buy everything new. I guess it would depend on the shape of your existing hardware. I simply replaced all of the bushings and ball-joints on my stock hardware and used their Cool Ride setup. Unless you are going for a true pro-touring set-up, the stock hardware should work fine.

Here is how my 65 set with the Cool Ride, 20's and 18's

i am a dealer for airride tech. i will help you with your system , i have had airride since airride was not even a company !

you 64 will need a coolride system , with a ride pro e( thats the 4 way system as sick65 was talking about ) it is a easy system to use and install . i have used other companys and have NEVER been happy with the product .
as for the 20 and 18 , i also am a dealer for many brands , you can run 20x8 and 18x7 without any problems . most wheel companys will tell you want backspacing to use with stock or lowered suspension .
    hope this helps you

I can't wait to get it back so I can start working on it again. A little time out of the house and away from the wife wouldn't hurt either.
