Frozen Clutch on my 63 Vette help..
Fellas, I went to start my 63 fuelie today and the clutch is apparently frozen in neutral - I was a bad boy and haven't driven it in 6+ months...started her, but hadn't driven her. I put her in 1st gear and turned it over which didn't work and as it was not giving me warm fuzzies I put it away until I can do more research. Its a BW T-10....apologize for the non hotrod related questions---but figured you guys wouldn't mind.
Thanks!

Streets thanks for your quick reply - the engine starts up fine, I just cannot engage any gear while the motor is running and the clutch pedal *feels* normal so I assumed my clutch is frozen.
Thanks - Jordan.

No grinding of gears - I was using the starter to try and "pop" it free, so I hadn't give a wholehearted attempt to get it to start while in gear...
I am looking for a less abusive way of fixing it without dropping the entire clutch....maybe that would be asking too much!
Thanks again,
Jordan

Jordan,
If you could get the car into the street and start it while it's in gear, maybe a little "on & off" of the throttle would shake it loose... make sure nothings in front of you before trying this one

Thanks guys - I guess I have no choice but to do it this way, I will let you know what happens as I plan to work on it Saturday. Kind of amusing I had planned to take the vette on a long cruise, but after the issues I put her away and took out my '23 T which ran like a champ (she is all stock, coils and all 20hp)..maybe the Ford guys know something!
Thanks again,
Jordan

this may sound a little abusive but it will normally work. have had to do this on a s-10 before with stuck clutch. jack rear of car up with jack put it in second gear and crank car up with clutch pedal pushed in rev to about 1500 to 2500 rpm and have a friend drop the car just make sure you have room in front of car.

Thanks everyone - I warmed the 63 up, pushed her into the street - put her in second, started her up with the clutch depressed and bam! instantly released. I have learned my lesson...we need to drive these things!
BTW - somewhat o/t, howver I was fortunate enough to get a ride in a Stanley Steamer today...wow...what a beautiful piece of Americana...
Thanks again!

Fair enough streets - I expected a bit of abuse for the steam comment...however, it was pretty cool. Also, I have been trying to email you regarding NY related titling issues..if you wouldn't mind emailing me I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Streets, my email kept bouncing so I might as well post it here -
Here is my question – according to one of your responses it is virtually impossible to build a ground up car (cornhusker frame/Brookville body/flathead) without stamping a VIN yourself..
I have come across a 1936 NY registration for a 1932 Ford roadster – the guy is in Ca and when he bought the car it was easier to apply for a new vin rather than transfer the existing title – additionally, the car was titled with the chassis # rather than the # on the registration. Will this help me out? Should I be able to go into DMV and obtain a title in my name for a 1932 ford roadster? Thank you so much for your help.

So Jordan, does this mean you've settled on a theme and components?Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Hi Bob, I am starting the part accumulation process - but before I do I want to make sure I wont have any titling issues - we are still planning along the doane spencer lines, but not an exact duplicate. I will keep you up to date---I actually just printed some of your emails/posts and placed them in our master looseleaf for the project. Thanks for asking!
