    Cold Weather Blues!!

OK. It's approaching winter time and all my buddies put their cars up until spring. That is ok and all, but i can't stand it. I still like to get my car out on pretty weekends. Will this cause any issues? I don't see why it would, but why do so many people store them during winter?? Is there a certain point (temp) when its best to keep it parked? What do you guys think?

    I really appreciate your input!!!!

Hey there, in response to your question......the reason I dont drive my car in the winter is I live in Indiana. Once we get that first dusting of snow the salt trucks come out in full force. And if you drive on the roads here in the winter and get those nasty little salt granules up into your fender wells or up into those little nooks and crannies under your car. Then add that with a little water and lookout.........oxidation and rust. To add injury to insult they mix that salt with sand, and to get that crap built up under your car is just bad. So normally I wait until we have at least 3 or 4 good heavy spring rains to wash the streets before my car comes out. So in as much as a few words.....if you love your car and live in snow country......put it away until spring. If you really have a jonsen to drive it, do like I do. Open the garage door, start it up (or not) and just pretend you are zooming down a warm summer hi-way on the way to a show. Regards, Gary

I didn't really think about that. Here in middle TN, we do not see much snow, so salt is not a major problem. I do know what you mean. I can really tell a difference when old cars come from snow country. Always seem to have a bit more rust. Especially lower quarters!!!

    Thanks for the advice!!

Then there are those of us who live in Arizona who don't really give a hoot for driving them, just building them, so we get to play year-round.

I gotta admit I like the building better than the driving part too.

I don't know how old you are, but there are so many different talents involved in building cars, that there should be something you would be interested in learning. I've never met the guy yet, who can do them all, so don't be envious.....be involved!

No doubt!! I am very interested and learning all i can. I just seems tough to find anyone who will show me. I am always afraid to tackle a project on my own, because a mistake can be costly. I guess that is the way to learn, but i don't want to do it that way.

    Thanks!!!
