Thread: Carb to tpi swap NEED HELP

I was wondering if any knew if the 1988 firebird with the VIN 1G2FS21F2JL214351 MODEL YEAR 11/87 had the VATS system or not. Ive recieved alot of conflicting info on this. Some say it dose some say it dosent. The only thing i'm swapping is the sensors fuel system and enginge wiring harness with ecm. I didnt know if since im not using the steering column and key swith would it make a difference. any help on this whole swap process would be great. thanks

what was wrong with the answer i gave you before? if the key has a little chip on it then it has VATS. if it dont have a chip on it then it dont.

if the 1988 has the VATS system and you use the 88 computer in another car you'll have to get a new computer chip. if you are gonna get a new chip anyway, (and you will need to) then don't worry about it.

I'm sorry. When i posted the first thread i didnt log off I just closed the web page and it didn't save my post. For some reason i've had this problem before and i just thought it was my computer.
