    Another newbie

'Nother new guy checkin' in.I just joined today.I've spent most of my time in the last year and a half on Mliltary.com and have over 4700 posts there, which don't mean diddly here.My vehicle that I've spent most of my time and money on for almost 27 years is a 1956 Ford F100.Mine is bright Bahama blue over white. It has all the goodies,ie torsion bar,9"Ford,air,pwr 1 pc windows, etc, etc. It's powered by a 455 Olds and turbo 400.My screen name comes from the fact that in 1956 I was a mechanic on F100s (among others)and now I drive a '56 F100.

Thanks for the welcome,it's much appreciated.I love those pics of the F100 Streets. At the time I was assigned to them,I was also assigned to F86s and F94s,but somehow F94kid didn't sound right!I was on fighters in '55 and '56 and then wound up on bombers(B47s).Ok,enough about airplanes.Screamer,I was sort of given that engine.By that I mean,my grandson's other grandfather was building a motorhome and had a 455 in it.He was killed in a car wreck and his widow said I could have it(the engine).Unfortunately,it had sat so long it was seized,so I bought a long block from a rebuilder.I'll try to post a pic some day.As far as being a geezer in Streets age bracket,I'm personally 67!But when I climb in my truck...damn,I'm 18 again!!I'm looking forward to talking to some more "kids"here.

    More of a geezer today

I will be more of a Geezer from now on, ESPECIALLY when i get in my car.

Them damned coppers got me. 42 in a 25 ON AN ENTRANCE RAMP TO A HIWAY! Is there no justice??

I go 15 years no tickets, not a one, not even for parking. This past year i get one for speeding (deserved and overdue perhaps, but always unjust). i mean, i was just drivin' home after a hard days work. Then some college chippy hits my RX-7, totals it on it's 4th ride, and i get TWO tickets. Apparently i wasn't drivin' fast enough to get outta her way. She hits me, i get the tickets. Not deserved, and no justice here at all. I has to hire a liar to make sure the reckless driving gets tossed out. liar still cheaper than fine! Then today...local yokel, will fight it (of course) and prolly get it reduced and no points. Old cop, perhaps he'll have a stroke soon and miss the hearing. ($148 fine on this one folks. Avoid PA!)

I go 15 years without a ticket, and wham, bam , no thank you ma'am, this year i get bent over and not so much as a thank you!

SOOO, tomorrow, when you see me, i'll be the one 10 miles under the speed limit, with my turnsignal on 4 miles too soon, headlights always on, wipers too (just in case), i'll be sure to stop for 30 seconds at all stop signs and green lights.

I did better when i drove cars that screamed "PULL ME OVER I'M DANGEROUS"!

Ah, yes, but what about all the stupid things we have done that we SHOULD have gotten tickets for? or worse? I remember cutting through a strip center parking lot at near 100 in a 2-1/2 ton Van whilst racing a young punk in a Camaro. I just couldn't resist intimidating one of those guys especially when they had the HS graduation tassles hanging fron the rear view.... Oh, well, I know I'm lucky to be here....

Oh i've done my share of stupid things...and even talked my way out of quite a few...as in passing in a construction zone (1 lane too) at 'a high rate of speed' an unmarked cop when i was on a touring bike. I got yelled at, for quite a while. I had dealer plates on this salvaged bike (my bike, not dealers..illegal mix there) and no insurance...fines would have exceeded $800 (back in 92!).

Here in PA radar is for highways only...back in December the cop followed me 2 miles...radar detector woulda been useless. Yesterday cop used VASCAR+, lines on the road deal. Cops paint these lines everywhere to 'scare' you into slowing down.

I drove 12 years with NO tickets..and got 3 in 3 weeks. THen no tickets till now. IF i get the points, i gotta go to school (6 points first time) and they WILL notify my insurance company and UP go the rates.

I am no more an insurance risk this year than last! Not fair - and yeah, i know life ain't fair. i try to be a productive good citizen and this is what i get...i should be like the asddicts my wife works with - live off the state, have 10 DUI's and STILL drive (license revoked until 2021!).

    We need a new system...

I usually try to get a speeding ticket about every 10 yrs.At least it seems that way.Now my oldest grandson is a cop,so i'll hafta slow down some.I've been a licensed driver since 1951 and have made several (about 5 ) trips coast to coast (Air Force moves, etc)and have been very lucky ticket wise!

Made innumerable trips from Pittsburgh PA to baltimore (wifes family) and never had a problem. Did delivery work back in my youth, drove 1000 miles a week got popped once back then.

My wife got pulled over the other day now too...written warning as the cop told here 'i ran your license, no tickets for over 10 years, so i'll just give you a warning" - activity in question? small town 4 way intersection, she is in left turning lane, green light, and stops in middle of intersetion for car approaching who is going straight ...the light turns red as she waits for the otehr car to clear the intersection, che gets stopped for running red light.
