    carb leaking

Ok, i just installed a carter carb on my engine, and after letting the fuel pump run to fill up the bowls, it started leaking like crazy at the very top. There is a hole on either side, they are weird shaped, and then it starts leaking out of there.
Also, when i turn off the pump, the carb makes like a sluping sound. Im figuring this might need a rebuild, but was wondering mainly why there is fuel coming out the top.

    thanx

It could be that you are plugged up and it needs an escape valve, which it is getting out the top. But then again I havent taken a car engine apart yet like you guys all (probably) have, I had to confine it to the 4hp engines they had in shop class last year.
