I say english wheel simply because a friend of mine at the shop is really into metal working. He picked up some scrap and welded the support, and then purchased everything else needed and the whole project ran him $250. Pretty damn cheap if you can find the scrap and weld.

Sheet metal brake, especially if you're talking fuel tank.

Not sure why my post is gone here now but here it is again.... I think you need both to do a tank. Well that is for a motorcycle tanks. If just a plain square car tank then all that would be needed are hand tools, a metal brake and some sheers. Maybe a few other small things. But if your making rounded out motorcycle tanks then you will need BOTH E wheel and Planishing hammer. Either that or you can get an E wheel and spend hours on a bag with a hammer.

Yeah I'd wait. Either that or build your own E wheel. Plenty of plans on the net and even kits too. metalshapers.org and those places have people on there that would help you out.
