cutting frane .doit yourself tubbing
as you know I am new to this site and I am attempting to build a pro street S-10, I would like to tub this beast myself but never haveing done this ..I am asking for help. I have done severall coustem rides. But never a tub job. This beast is sporting a small block chevy eng. with pro 1 Dart aluminan heads a 365 booth cam , eldenbrock intake and carb, a 2700 stall converter.with a turbo 350 trans that has been beefed up just a tad. I presently have a possie rear end out of a chevy exstream. But I would like to go with a ford 9 inch. My last chevy Luv truck had a 8.5 rearend with a 327 eng with a saginaw rock crusher 4 speed. it was ok but now it is time to do this one better. Might want to check www.artmorrison.com.
I've used some of their stuff, good quality. If you don't want to go through the trouble and expense of making a jig to build your own back half, the welded back half would be an option. The freight is a bit high, the welded assembly has to be shipped by truck.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I like to cut the rails off just behind the cab and push them together and reattach them, it works great. This way just narrow the rear end and all other mounting point are still intact, except for the bed,rear bumper and fuel cell. You will need to have good welding skills how ever you choose to do it.
