Which floor shifter?
Ok, I am picking up a 225 slant 6 from a 76 aspen along with the tranny for $150. With no column shifter (car has 3 in a tree) what floor shifter should I use. Any stock shifters out there that would work? Or is there a "kit" to change the 3 in a tree to a column shifter? (bolt on shifter)1949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.

I can only say that I had a '76 volare with a slant six and it had a four speed manual trans on the floor where the 4th gear was OD. It was a station wagon. That means that somewhere out there there may be rebuilt or rebuildable four-on-the-floor transmissions somewhere. That wagon was big and wide and the stick was tall so I felt qualified to drive a school bus, but I really appreciated the OD.

Hurst makes a shifter, Hurst Indy SSA Universal 3-spd shifter. It is available at Jegs for $95.99 under part number 530-501-0002, but I can't tell if the linkage is included or not. Check with Hurst Tech Support....

tech, thanks for the number, but I may have miss led you a little. I am looking for an automatic to replace the original 3 in a tree manual. But I will check JEGS for an automatic, I like the look of that shifter.1949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
