305 v6 gmc truck motor
maybe someone can help me i'm new to this site but i can tell there are people here that know there stuff! what i want to know is i've got a 305 v6 gmc truck motor that i want to do two things to it one' is i want to put headers on it noone makes them so is it possible to use a set from a chevy v6 motor and use them for sort of a pattern or cut and weld them to fit? i dont know which chevy motor might match up to this v6? or close to it second question is i want to put a dual carb setup on it what would be the best set of carburetors holley or rochesters i'm thinking to two barrel carbs i saw in vintage speeds web that they make a adapter to go from a single carb to a dual carb setup i'm not really looking for performance as much as it runs good just something a little different! thanks joe!!

Somebody else may have some leads, but as far as I know, there was never any high performance equipment made for that engine; it was (is) strictly a low rpm - high torque truck engine. You could build a set of headers from scratch, but there is no relation between it and a later model Chevy, or any other v-6. You could also hand build an intake out of sheet metal and tubing. But, if you are looking for performance, why not just swap in a late model crate engine? Much, much easier solution.

Is it an early v6 ('5o's '60's) or a late model? The early valve covers look like a 348 or scalloped.

there has been Holley 2bbl conversions done. the 305 E which is the most common, makes 165 HP @ 3,600 RPM, so it's a low RPM motor. You don't know what you've got til it's gone
