    Holley or edelbrock carb

I am going to put a 600 CFM carb on a 70 ford 302 and what carb would be best for a daily driver, holley or edelbrock. Jeff

Well, it really depends on what you like I guess.

I know what I like; but, I absolutely, 100000000%, guarentee you that there will be many others that disagree with me. And some might actually agree with me as well.

They are obviously different from each other and they work differently. They are also tuned differently as well.

For daily drivers, either way you go, I personally prefer one with an electric choke. Some would argue that it's only one more thing to fail; but, I personally like the idea of turning the key to the "on" position, hitting the electric fuel pump prime switch, pausing for a second, and then crank the engine. It fires right off the bat and I don't have to pump the gas pedal or mess with the choke to get it right. I'll admit that I am lazy when it comes to this; but, IMO if, it's a daily driver, you shouldn't have to tweak it constantly.

Now all of that said, I also prefer Edelbrock because they absolutely hold a tune for ever.

Like I said, though, there are a lot of people who despise Edelbrock carbs; just like I despise Holleys.

    Bottom line I guess is:

    Your wallet, Your build.

I prefer Holley's, but you'll probably get just as many that prefer Edlebrock's. I think Holley's are easier to tune, especially the new Street Avenger.

I've had both and prefer an Edelbrock for street perfomance. But if you are going to the drag strip, then I would opt for a Holley. Both are easily tuneable if you know what you are doing.

I don't think we could get the manifold to fit. If it is any consulation that engine will be going in a Ford 53 wagon some day soon.

We'er messing up the orignal thread but. I seen this car at a swap meet 3 years ago for $1,000.00 or best offer. I couldn't fine the owner so I took his ph # and we went home. Needles to say I did the typical thing and lost his number. About 6 mounths ago while checking ebay I seen a 31 chevy coupe. Nice ride, but through the window of the coupe I could see a red SW I finely got in touch with the owner and it was the same SW I had seen 3 yrs ago. That afternoon I owned that wagon. It is solid one rust spot over left rear wheel. Interior not to bad but won't be using much of that anyway. I like chevys cause thats what I grew up on. BUT if your going to work on cars you have to at least try to understand them all.
