need help with headers for 39 chevy with bbc & dropped I beam axle

Hey guys, if there is anyone out there that knows or has had (have) a 39 chevy car with the stock or modified Ibeam suspension with a Big block in it. What headers did you use? Since you will certanly KNOW how next to impossible it is to get any header that with fit. I can't find anything that will not block or will clear the vega steering box, because of where it has to be mounted for the cross steer, the only thing I have been able to find that i can make work is a 68 bbc camaro exhaust manifold. I know there has to be someone other than me who has put a bbc in a 39 chevy using a dropped i beam setup !!. ***guys with ifs kits the headers u uses will not be any help to me, since u use a rack and pinion steering that will not have the steering box header clearence problem i am running into. thanks for any help

It is unlikely that you will find an off-the-shelf header that will work. The other guys who made this swap probably made their own headers.

I've used Hooker and Hedman, both about the same quality, just comes down to shopping the best price... I just ordered a bunch of stainless for the Ranchero headers, mandrell bends and straight tubes. Nice stuff, my pal Roger who runs an exhaust shop ordered it for me. Kind of scared to see the invoice.... oh well...
