    need some advice

so i want to shave the taillights on my 92 1500. i had the idea of using some kind of filler for the gaps between the taillight and bed and sanding the taillight and painting over them then put a LED bar on the tail gate.
    what do you guys think?
and what kind of filler would be best for this?

If this is what I think it looks like, no filler.

The only correct way to shave anything is to weld up the holes with similar metal, then use a small amount of skim filler to make it perfect.

I envision you trying to fill a large area with filler, and it just doesn't hold up.

With the prices of small mig welders as low as they are now, it would make sense to buy a 110 volt unit and do it right. These migs aren't good for heavy stuff, like frames, but for sheet metal they are certainly better than nothing.

In the old days, some bucks-down rodders would bondo the heck out of their cars, and the results lasted just about until they hit the first pot hole.

So, unless I am reading what you want to do wrong, do it right, and wait until you can do it right. Besides, the skill of welding is an important one to master for all your future projects. Great place to start would be on your tail lights.
