good deal, what to look for?
OK guys I am currently building a sbc 350 with a supercharger in the basement and I finaly got my hot rod to drive till it is done.. tommorow or friday I will acept delivery on a
85' s-10 with a 305 it needs a B&M shift cable, radiator hoses, 600cc 4bbl carb, comes with headers (need to be installed and exhuast fabbed up)
this from the seller
"first ill start with the good, its a clean title 85 s10 no rust, straight body, truck, i got it from my aunt and she bought it new in 85, it was brought up here from kentucky 2 years ago. it has a 4 link rear suspention(truck is lowered), has a 305 v8/200r4 trans in it, the motor mounts are from jags than run, so the are not cobbled homemade ones, the radiator is from an 85 corvette, it has a b&m ratchet shifter, black paint with airbrushed realistic flames.
now what it needs, motor is not running cause i took the carb radiator hoses ans exhaust off it, if those parts were put back on it would run fine, the 4 link was set up for hydraulics but they were never fully installed and never used, so the 4 link needs to be aligned better but its very strong, interior is all there but the seat is in pretty bad shape, thats all it needs"
I am paying 550.00 that includes the cost for him to trailor it to me an hour and a half away..
what I dont understand is what is a 4 link suspension, what does he mean by needs to be alligned, (he said I could drive it as is), is a 200r4 trans good?
anyhwo what do u guys think and do u think it was a good trade?

Hard to say without seeing it. Maybe post a pic or two when you get it and we should be able to tell more.....the 200R4's are kind of light duty, won't take a lot of punishment.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

The 700R-4 is stronger, or the old reliable 350 or 400 Turbo if you don't need to have the overdrive. Depends on the driving you'll be doing with it..... The overdrive is nice if you're going to do a lot of highway miles, probably not necessary for cruising around town most of the time.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I got the truck today and this is what I noticed..
the truck needs the headers, carburator, fan (for radiator), plugs, wires, B&M shifter to trans cable, alternator.
now to the bad part.. the truck has a 4 link suspension in the front and the truck has been setup for hydrolics so there are the strut shaftsthat have been welded in. The front and rear strut towers have been cut, the bed has a big chunk missing from tower to tower, there are no hydros or air bags hooked up, and there are blocks of wood wedged between the bed and the suspension in the back no shocks or springs anywhere.
I guess I am wondering if this car will be drivable once I get the motor running? it appears to be slammed down to the frame.
