ok im thinking about buying just the main hoop for my car right now but u have 2 questions
1. how much stiffer will this make my chassis (its a unibody camaro)
2. can i still use the main hoop for when i decide to put a 8 point bar in my car?

1) Probably not much, if any. The rigidity comes from the way the bars connect to the various points on the car. One hoop will only stiffen it crosswise.

2) Maybe, depending on if the hoop you buy is for an 8 point to start with.

As long as you are paying shipping, probably best to buy the 8 point now and use just the hoop until later on. Why do you want to put just a hoop? Aside from cosmetics you aren't going to get much. If you are looking for stiffening, do the subframe connector routine. They work and are cheap.

right on, good advise! the main hoop is no good by itself.

If you can't afford to do it correctly now, then wait until you can. There's no point in putting the car up on jackstands and leveling it twice, plus tearing out carpet and other materials that are in the way twice. Then there's dragging the welder out twice and scheduling a pro welder twice if you're not reaaaaaal good with a welder.

Just wait 'til you can do it all at once and do it right. The main hoop by itself won't stiffen the car appreciably.

Do you have subframe connectors?

im going to order them soon. i ask because i was thinkin of orderin the main hoop with the SFCs
