    Just need help

Trying to change front main seal on from what I think is very early 60;s 283 chevy . The bottom pullys were bolted to keywaed crank pully witch took a harmonic balancer puller to get off { mind you no bolt to draw it back on} So how is it reinstalled and if pressed on ? If pressed to far in is it no good. Not sure if i should pull back out a few 1000s Any help would help.I wish i could work on newer iron but . Thanks Marco

As Denny said there is (should be) a shoulder that will stop the damper when its on far enough. If the end of the crank is taped I'd put a bolt in it. I have had several hunderd SBCs apart all have had threads in the crank end , but some didn't have the bolt.
