weird problem think it may be the trans
ok i got my trans in and crap 3 days ago and its ran great. but today i took it down the express way and it ran great but somehow my distributor cap shook loose on one side(i think the cheap little screw got stripped) and it kept stalling but when i put the trans in reverse and occasionaly in overdrive it would make this weird almost grinding noise and then start shaking then die, could this be the messed up ignition?
or is it something more serious?
thanks guys
steve

whats the year, make, and model of the vehicle? if its a chevy, its not uncommon for the distributor cap to be real close to the firewall and get dislodged from the housing doing an R&R on the trans. as far as any grinding goes, see if u cant locate where the sound is coming from, who knows?, if u havent re-positioned the cap back properly, that could be ur whole problem.. gl

haha i found out what it was. thr grinding was the torque converter because the passenger side studs shook out and the trans wasn't lined up against the block.
