need some more bodywork help....
ok i just got a deal on another fullsize chevy. but it was hit on the drivers side and the door is smoked but no big deal. however the cab (in the door striker bolt area) is kind of bent in towards the inside of the truck and had some dents. i plan on hammerin and dolly'in the dents but my big worry is getting the cab back to its original lines so the door will fit right. can i just like slowly bend the part of the cab back to how it should be?
what do you guys think?
and im sorry if this makes no sense to you lol its been a long day
thanks alot guys!

If you have a port-a-power with the ram extensions you could get it back to where it was. Do you know anyone with a frame machine. The metal in that area is rough to move back. Way back when I was told to remember when doing crash damage "First thing in is Last thing out". Remembering that should help.Charlie

Steve,a door jamb is one of those things you kinda need to see and decide whether pushing or pulling would be best. You can do either with a little thinking,a good porta-power,some chains and blocking. I've even used old bumper jacks to straighten a lot of things back when. Give it a try. Hank

ok im sorry lol i dont know what a port a power is lol. my plan was to have my buddy get inside the cab and start hammering the cab slowly until it is roughly in its original place (so my new door will stay put) then slowly rework it with hammers and dollys to make it look like its supposed to...
yay or nay?

if you have a mig welder you can tack weld a pull plate on the edge of the cab side you can make pull hooks out of 3/8 flat steel to to fit the need if you can get behide the jam. if you tack one like i said 1/8 will work good if not moving to much steel .chain it down from move when pulling on it you can use a car tree etc to keep it from moveing . and block it up to from working on the trucks suspension a small chain fall or a comealong will work on the pull plate. BE VERY CAREFUL if thing come off you do not want to be in the way you will lose. when you start to get a good hook on it and start to pull work out the steel and hammer all around a bit is will help unlock the steel and help hold it in place. there is much to this and take you time and think .i have pulled cars and trucks for many years . hope this helpsLast edited by pat mccarthy; 05-22-2006 at 06:55 PM.

hmmm my welder sucks but maybe i could drill some holes and use bolts and some steel???
it really doesnt need to move that much. maybe 2 inches in one spot then i just have to reshape it but that doesnt seem too hard.
right? lol
sorry guys i tried to get a pic about 1/2 hour ago (ive been messing with another problem but thats another postlol) but my camera died
