51 Chevy Car / Steering set-up ???
I'm in the process of install my new steering column in my 51 Chevy 2-door. Have a Flamming river column with a 1" DD on it, and the Flamming river rack with 9/16 - 26 spline mounted on the Chassis Engineering IFS crossmember.
Thinking about a Double U-joint coming off the rack, to a 3/4" DD shaft, to a single U-joint 3/4" DD x 1"DD to the column.
There's not alot of room to get the steering set-up in this car because of the V-8 and the Block Hugger headers. If anybody has done one in a 48-52 Chevy car please tell me what you did?

looks like you need to move the rack over to the pass side 1/4 inch this would help if you can move it over? or notch the frame a bit this would help it swing out away from the header or move the engine over or re work that one header tube ro one more steering jiont down by the rack but that is hard for me to say with out knowing how much rooms there is .i can not see itLast edited by pat mccarthy; 06-05-2006 at 05:21 PM.
