can some one help me
i did this too many times... picked a cam that was too big for the compression and the didnt have enough stall. the blocks on the cherry picker ready to go in ,i was going to put it in with the stock converter and then get a cam kit that would run with the converter.cam companies say largest cam with stock converter ,but what i read thats not really true. it seems these [small cams work better with 2000-2500 stall] so here i am trying to take a short cut and save a few bucks, when i know damn well im not going to be happy.i need help to pick a converter and cam package for my application. im looking for that streetrod sound with some tire shredding tourque.but im limited on compression i also like dual pattern camshafts since the heads are stock.8.5:1 compression with .015 steel shim gaskets should give me around 8.9:1 194 valve heads 350 turbo 3.42 gears come on guys some one out there has done what im doing and knows what works.GLENN
you can do it if you know how it works

I've always found more horsepower gains in the heads then in the cam.... As Tech said in on of his posts some time ago, the cam should be the last thing you pick for the engine. On cam selection, I still defer to the experts. I fill out the Comp Cams spec sheet completely with an accurate description of the engine and the rest of the driveline, then go with their recomendations. Sometimes it means laying down a few extra bucks for a custom grind, but still a lot cheaper then trying a bunch of different combinations and settling for the one that "feels" the best....JMOYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
