What kind of car or column? Have you tried pulling the wheel?? If you can get the wheel off you should be able to remove the locking ring(GM) /ford?? couldn't even guess .

Under the steering wheel there is a plate with slots in it going toward the outside. In the center there is a snap ring You have to depress the plate to remove the ring once the ring is off the plate will come off you will be able to put the wheel back on and steer the car.

I thought better of putting it out here but its in the repair manuals that you can buy at most parts stores.

Flatbed or tow it like Denny said , back to the house and repair it right!! You could brake more in parts than the tow will cost!!!Especially if u short some wires!!!!
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Just go to the seedier part of your home town and find any 13 year old. They somehow can undo these things faster than you can say " I think I parked my car right here???"
