    Poor rear window "seal"

A couple of weeks ago, I put the rear glass in my 37 ford. I was disappointed from the time I opened the package becuase the seal was neither molded to the shape of the glass nor did it fit well. It was loose just when I tried to wrap it around the glass.

Well, I get it installed, and the seal lip around the outside (which isn't very thick) isn't sealing against the body well at all. Around the corners, it's not even touching the body. I been sidetracked since then, and I wanted to see what happened over time. It's gotten worse.

So, how do I fix this? Is there some type of glue I can use to hold the lip down? I tried some weatherstrip adhesive, but it didn't work too well. Since it's a "contact" adhesive, it was hard keeping the mating surfaces away from each other.

    Suggestions?

I'm no expert but I've put in a few windows .
And if it doesn't fit in the beginning then it wont fit later.
sound like you need to pull it out and find a good quality product ...

Stupid question > : I know a 37' ford shouldn't!! have a locking strip but I don't know what company your dealing with so ... it's not missing a hard formed locking strip that fits in to the channel/gap that would lock the window in is it ? other then poor quality or wrong seal I don't know what to tell you . Got pictures ?

Maybe some one else with more experience will have a quick fix for you .

I don't have a picture since I have installed, but I'll take one. The worst is the upper and lower corners in the center.

The seal I got was from Yogi's, and I think it was Vintique brand. It looks like it's made out of good quality material, it just doesn't fit great. There just isn't enough "meat" to seal around the body.

The think that made me nervous was that it was listed as:

    "All 37, 38 coupes & sedans & 39-40 coupes."

They may be all exactly the same, but that's usually not the case. Typically, a part is altered a little if it came be make to "fit" several models.
