hi goys i have a 69 tbird with the 429 block, ive been told that i could use a manual gearbox from a toyota supra - the 3litre ones which looked like the corvets a little

is this true as i want to take out the auto c6 tranny but dont know what to use, i want it to be a fast car , im going to tune her up so it needs to be a tough enough tranny, what should i do and how ???

if you're asking if it'll bolt up without any mod. i'd say no. can it be made to fit, probably. i wouldn't think the supra trans. would be all that strong. i don't believe you would gain much taking out a C6 and replacing it with a toyota one. ford has some good straight shifts. C6 is not a bad trans. JMO

    try a TKO

I mated my 460 to a TKO 600. It is rated for 600 or more horsepower and 600 ft/lb. So, unless you are doing something really radical, it should have no problem. It cost about $1700 plus the bell and clutch setup, so it's not cheap, but effective.
